The key to getting your resume in the right hands is making it easy on the recruiters. This means, put it in a simple format that is easy to cut and paste into an email. No tables please and keep the header/footer clear of your contact information. This makes it difficult for the recruiter to cut and paste. I know this sounds like you’re dealing with a bunch of lazy recruiters but the reality is that some days I get over 200 resumes. It is impossible to go through everyone of them when I have to spend time reformatting someone’s resume to send to the hiring team.
Make your resume easy to read, easy to understand. Acronyms are fine as long as you are 100 percent sure your readership knows what you are talking about. Keep it to a couple of pages. It’s not necessary that I know you sold carpet before you became a software developer.
Fonts and spellcheck!- keep it simple and please spellcheck your resume – Bachelor has an “e” in it.
